When data is uploaded into the ALA:
- georeferences are checked, i.e. to ensure that the latitude and longitude have not been transposed etc
- the current species name is determined and allocated to the record
- completeness of the record is assessed.
Results of these checks are published in the ALA and full details of any changes made are viewed by clicking on the Compare 'original vs processed’ values button on the occurrence record page; see next image.
A sandbox environment is available for users to upload their data and run it through data quality tests and sensitivity checks and then visualise the data on a map. Results of the data quality tests can be used to modify data ‘at source’ or simply be used to highlight quality issues in the uploaded data.
